Tattoo Removal
The Spectra Laser by Lutronic can be used for tattoo removal. The laser operates at multiple wavelengths, primarily 1064 nm and 532 nm, allowing it to target a range of tattoo ink colours.
How does the Spectra Laser work to remove tattoos?
The Spectra Laser uses multiple wavelengths including the 1 064 nm wavelength which is Ideal for darker ink colours (black, dark blue, etc.) and the 532 nm wavelength which is effective for lighter colours (red, orange, yellow). The laser provides precision treatment in breaking down tattoo pigments into smaller particles, which are then naturally eliminated by the body.
How frequently are treatments scheduled?
Treatments with the Spectra laser for tattoo removal are typically spaced about 4 to 8 weeks apart. Timing is based on allowing your skin to heal and for any redness, swelling or sensitivity to subside after treatment. This also allows the body’s immunity time to break down and flush out the fragmented ink particles after each session. Finally, timing is determined based on skin tone, tattoo colour, depth and your age which can influencing the healing process and determine the optimal timing between sessions.
What is the downtime after tattoo removal sessions?
The laser is designed to minimize damage to surrounding tissue thereby reducing recovery time. However, immediately after treatment, the skin will have a temporary whitening of the tattoo area, known as frosting. This is caused by the release of gas as the laser breaks up the ink and usually subsides within minutes to hours. The treated area may also appear red, swollen, and slightly raised. This is a normal inflammatory response. You can also expect the skin to feel warm or sensitive, similar to a sunburn.
Does laser tattoo removal hurt?
Yes, laser tattoo removal can be painful but the level of discomfort varies depending on several factors including where the tattoos is located. Areas with thin skin or near bones (e.g., fingers, ribs, ankles) tend to be more sensitive. Areas with thicker skin or more fat (e.g., upper arms, thighs) are usually less painful.Larger tattoos require more time under the laser, which can increase discomfort. Darker ink absorbs more laser energy and may cause more discomfort than lighter colours.
Pain Management Options
1. Topical Anesthetics:
A numbing cream (e.g., lidocaine) is applied to the area before the procedure to reduce pain.
2. Cooling Devices:
We us the Zimmer Cooling System to soothe the skin during and after treatment.
3. Short Treatment Times:
Sessions are usually brief, lasting only a few minutes for smaller tattoos.
Is the Spectra Laser safe for all skin tones?
With proper settings, it can be used safely on different skin tones.
